What
To Do If
You Have A
LOST PET:
1. Call the Lenawee Humane Society at 263-FIND to file a lost report within 24 hours. Click here to see what information we'll need for the report, and for tips on how to keep your pets home and safe!
2. Also call Addison Vet. Clinic (547-7581).
3. Call Adrian City Garage at 263-2161 to see if they picked up a pet matching the description of your pet if you are in Adrian City Limits.
4. Put a "Lost" ad in area newspapers and local radio stations. See bottom of page for local numbers for free advertising.
5. Distribute posters that include a description of your pet, where it was lost, your phone number, a black and white photo of the animal, and a reward.
6. Talk to as many people as possible when you distribute your posters. Ask if they have seen your pet. Let them know that you are concerned.
7. Visit LHS as often as possible to check for your pet. Make sure you ask at the front desk for the specific animal you are looking for. Not all our animals are up for adoption right away.
8. If you live near the County Line, visit the shelter or the animal control facility in the neighboring county as well.
9. Check the "Lost & Found" section of our website www.lenhumanesoc.org and area newspapers and radio stations every day.
10. Search for your pet, especially in the early morning hours (3 - 5 a.m.) when it is quiet. Your pet will be able to hear you calling and you will be able to hear it.
11. Set up a temporary comfort station (provide a bed, food, and water) near your home to encourage your pet to stay in the area if it returns while you are gone.
12. Check with local veterinary clinics, and your local Animal Control Agency's dead animal pick-up.
13. When you find your pet, notify LHS, and if it doesn't already have one, please put an ID tag on it. We offer LHS tags to the public for free.
