BASIC VETERINARY CARE YOUR CAT NEEDS

Yearly Visits

All cats should visit a licensed veterinarian once a year for a complete physical. Many health problems may be detected and treated before they become more serious, preventing more harm to the animal and more expense to you.

Vaccinations and Testing

  • Rabies Vaccination -  All cats should be vaccinated for rabies. This is an infectious disease that is contagious to humans.

  • RCPC (Distemper combination) - All cats should be vaccinated every year to prevent infectious disease.

  • Feline Leukemia (FELV) Testing and Vaccination -  All cats should be tested for FELV before entering a new home with other cats, as it is extremely contagious among cats. If contracted, it is always fatal. Yearly vaccinations are optional but highly encouraged.

  • Fecal Testing -  All cats should have a stool sample check every year to detect intestinal parasites.

Illness or Injury

If your cat experiences illness or injury, call or visit your veterinarian immediately to relieve suffering and prevent complications. Remember that your cat can't tell you when he is uncomfortable or in pain.
